New sound art project: D.A.R.D.I.S.

I've been writing songs for years, little doodles on the guitar mostly, for my own amusement. But here's something a bit different.... I've making some sound experiments, trying to capture the sound of the depressed mind.

The programme for the Belfast Book Festival 2019 has just been announced. I'll be part of three events happening during the festivities.

Poetry NI Presents: The Belfast Book Festival Poetry Slam
Tuesday 11 June 2019, 9:30-11:30PM
Open to all poets, we invite you to take the mic and enter our annual poetry slam competition. Share your work in front of a lively and appreciative audience, with new readers always welcome.

Write To Mental Health Workshop
Saturday 15 June 2019, 12-2PM
Poetry NI’s Geraldine O’Kane and Colin Dardis present a poetry workshop designed to encourage and celebrate creativity, providing the opportunity to experiment with writing in a supportive and constructive atmosphere.

Here's the cover reveal for 'The Dogs of Humanity', my new poetry collection from Fly on the Wall Press, out in early August. Many thanks to editor Isabelle Kenyon for her support with this.

I'll be previewing poems from the book at the Belfast Book Festival in June, and launching the collection at EastSide Arts Festival... more details on those dates soon!

Staccato and LEAF

I'm reading at the wonderful Staccato series in Dublin on Wednesday 10th April. Many thanks to Tanya Farrelly and David Butler for the invite to read.

I'll also be doing a workshop and reading as Deep Down's Lived Experience Arts Festival in the Ivy Bar, Newtownards on Saturday 18th May.

Creative writing workshop, 2:30-4.30pm
Come and join award-winning poet Colin Dardis in an introduction to writing poetry. Colin with show some basic techniques as well as teaching how to avoid common errors. This event is relaxed and open to anyone who wants to give writing poetry a try. £5 to cover costs.

Open Mic Poetry, 5-7pm
An opportunity for participants to have a go at reading poetry to a kind and supportive audience of poets! Colin Dardis will lead the way in reading from his collection 'the x of y', with the floor open to others. The event will also be open to those who just want to listen!, £5 to cover costs.
